Are you into immediate gratification, or true accomplishment?

I'm into the latter, and I can still say that I get almost 100% of the enjoyment out of Guild Wars that I have when I started almost two years ago.

How?

I solo everything possible without heroes or henchmen. I will try a mission/quest/area over and over and over again until I figure out the right build to beat it. Then I put the notch in my headboard and move to the next challenge.

I'm still in Normal mode, and still haven't been able to do everything. My Necro (HINT: NOT a MM), has soloed almost everything in Prophecies and Factions, and is starting to plow her way through Nightfall.

I know from your previous posts that you are very, very knowledgeable about how a Necromancer works and have an intimate knowledge of each of the skills available to you. Take the next step in PvE, and you may find new enjoyment from a game that you thought you mastered, if you follow the "Type B" personality I described above.

Games are for immediate gratification; accomplishments belong in real life.

Kinda funny how constructive posts out-number the usual trollesque ones here.

But I too suddenly find the game quite boring since hard mode, my only char I'd wanna take through it struggles in alot of areas and near impossible to get in pugs. But I have kinda started to get into PVP more, even got my first glad point

I find whenever bordem strikes, its a good time to dig into the sack of yea oldie games and see what you can find - I recently found myself repearting Fire emblem, Gain Ground and Dizzy (The next logical step would be pong i suppose)

mmmm CLassic Grind > Modern Grind

...and there's the Type A personality bleeding through. Every person plays games for their own purpose.

Those people that pursue titles generally fall into the Type B category. For example, there is nothing "immediately gratifying" about pursuing the Grandmaster Cartographer titles....

Hey Syria,

Remember me! If you're bored, you could try and get the guardian title in HM or try and help me reach Gate of Madness and eventually beating NF lol.

NF have been released for over 6 to 7 months now and I haven't got close to GoM yet!

Meh...

I gave up on Pokémon for two reasons:
#1. Pokémon Colosseum totally ruined the mood of the game for me... and everything was getting kewky and gimmicky...
#2. I thrashed everyone I ever fought so easily that nobody ever wanted to play against me again... though admittedly nobody else my age even played it when I did, so those I did fight (and thrash) were kids several years younger than me with somewhat weaker grasp of tactics (and lacking the desire to spend months custom-breeding the perfect fighters)...

But that totally isn't the point.

If you want to put the fun back into Guild Wars..... play in seriously abnormal ways...

#1. Try playing in PvE with pointless gimmick builds in areas where it will be of medium difficulty for them to manage..... e.g. A build consisting of nothing but running skills.... or nothing but signets....
#2. Try doing the campaigns backwards while actually watching the cutscenes and paying attention.... and see if it confuses or amuses you....
#3. Explore areas of the three continents soley for finding the best places to take screenshots? I'm doing this right now... while GMCing in Tyria...
#4. Give yourself and your Heroes (at least three) Ranger secondary... capture Black Moa pets for all of them... and then Rampage through a semi-easy area with four Black Moas, letting them do all the killing (or better still, find a friend to do the same and get eight Black Moas)!
#5. Challenge yourself to go through an explorable area and Taunt every single enemy just before it dies...
#6. Find somewhere like Snake Dance and see how many basic melee enemies (e.g. trolls or minotaurs) you can aggro at once without dying. I've seen someone else do this and it was absolutely hilarious!
#7. If you don't actually care what other people think of your actions, try doing Fort Aspenwood or Alliance Battles with some intent other than killing the opposing team.... such as simply running around and distracting the opposition.... or even using a Sabotage build to help the "enemy" (easy amusement for the truly evil).

These are just a few examples... and all things that would personally amuse me. Not sure about you.... but there are my suggestions. ^_^

Hard Mode is a gimmick.
Hard mode is easily one of the best things to ever happen to Guild Wars. It's great fun and the loot is GREAT. The AI still sucks, so I agree with you on that.

The problem with hard mode is there is nothing new just harder. To enjoy the game there has to be some goal or focus. I have basically achieved all the major goals with a few minor ones left. I am get inordinately busy at work so maybe a lay off would be a good thing anyway. Maybe when Gwen does arrive there will be some interesting things to do. The quests are all much of a muchness that I do not even bother to take them let alone finish them.

Sex... the most overrated thing known to humankind.
I'm sure Zinger has far better things to be doing than playing "stick the sausage in the hole".

I thought you were in [Rare] with [SMS] Alliance. When it comes to Hard Mode it is just nothing more than added content as for a chapter that wasn't released and more grind. If you are bored wait in a few months then PvPer will really be bored of using the same 2 or 3 builds over again and again. The only good this is it is stabilizing the economy or I think.

No, really guys up there you make me laugh, acting like animals. Sex & violence are the 2 things that make an animal of any human.
I love it, but I'm affraid of how people are obseded with it o_O Are you DUMB ?
IMO you should just praise the almighty emperor instead of waisting your time doing useless things... like copulate

And I'm just gonna pretend all Warriors don't even exist... arrrrr very hard to awake after this kind of magnificent dream :/

Back on topic, IMO, hard mode is just another gimmick, really not fun at all ! Apart from total intoxicated players who whant the title, where is the fun of grinding like no tomorrow on endless f***ing areas ? none, none at all !
I was a true PvE player, but I realize that Anet doesn't make it attractive at all nowadays, unless PvP which has always a little attract of competition.
But where is the competition in beating the same mobs all over the 3 hours long of an area, with the risk of dying dumbly thanks to Dunkoro spamming his spells in disorder, or even Norgu (this guy is a joke, he cannot be anything else ! Sooo ridiculous, I would really be ashamed if I was a Mesmer :/) : there is no competition, only endurance, and that's bad.
But I already hear the little Anet worshipers coming and posting their narrow minded comments to flame us... c'mon just open your eyes, GW's spirit is just dead, at least for the moment...
